She is the new tough one in the -70 kg category, the one you don’t want to see when you look at a tournament’s drawings. Ranked N°1 by the international federation (IJF) since May 2013, the Dutch woman is born on February 8th 1991 in Zevenhuisen.
She was spot very early. Cadets national champion and silver medallist in the European championships in 2007, she keeps getting results in Juniors. In 2010, she becomes World and European champion, still in -70 kg (she was 2nd in 2009). In 2011, she even won the World Universiades.
Her transition to Seniors’ category did not bother her at all. If she fails conquering the world title in 2013, when she finished 3rd, Kim Polling lays down the law in the European field.
The Dutch woman won the last 3 European championships (2013, 2014 et 2015) and also won several Grand Slam tournaments. This year, she also won the Rabat Masters in May. At 24 years old, she is one of the main favourites for 2016 olympic gold medal in Rio.
