At 26 years old, the former student of Nichidai University became the undisputed n°1 Japanese heavyweight. He will be the -100 kg fighter for the national team at the next World championships in Tokyo (August 25-31).
A rise started in 2013, with a bronze medal at the Tokyo Grand Slam, followed by another one in Tuymen in 2014. He does not show up that much to international competitions but, each time he does, he hits the mark.
From November 2014 to February 2016, he won 34 matches and 5 IJF World Tour tournaments in a row (including Tokyo and 2 times Paris).
In Rio, in the Games’ final, he teased Teddy Riner as the latter has not been since Beijing 2008. But that was not be enough this time. This defeat hurts him. He knows a complicated year 2017 before bouncing back in 2018, especially with his 3rd place at the World championships. A year or so ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, Hisayoshi Harasawa has regained momentum.
