Hidayet Heydarov, 20 and already in the history !

He is only 20 years old bu he has already made history in his sport ! Hidayet Heydarov is the first judoka to become European champion in all four age categories.

He started by wining twice the U18 Europeans in 2013 and 2014. Quite logical considering his great talent ! In 2016, he moved up a gear. Within two months, the Azerbaijani, 19 years old (he is born on July 27th, 1997), wins two new European titles : in the U21 and U23 categories. Just amazing ! And the best is to come… In 2017, he is just awesome !

Hidayet Heydarov (-73 kg) strikes his first banderilla in the Paris Grand Slam, when he ranks 3rd. He also finishes 3rd at the Antalya Grand-Prix before dealing the ultimate blow in the Senior European championships where, for his first appearance, he overthrows anything on his path. In Warsaw, the young prodigy defeats the 2012 Olympic silver medallist (in -66 kg), the Hungarian Ungvari, and then the two times world medallist, the experimented Russian Mogushkov, in the final, to seize the continental gold and achieve a Grand Slam that will remain, forever the first one in the history. He then loses to Mongol Ganbaatar for the bronze.

But, fifteen days later, in Maribor, he is on top again ! He wins the U21 European title for the 2nd year in a row, and even adds Gold with his team. He thus wins his sixth individual continental title. Then, in November, he adds a new gold line on his records. After a bronze medal in 2015, he becomes U21 World champion ! Hidayet Heydarov is undoubtedly one the most talented and brilliant judoka of the new generation. At the Tokyo Olympics, the adidas team member will be only 23 years old…
