In 2016, she became the first Argentinian woman to become Panamerican champion (-55 kg). « An honor » for Giuliana Novak, 23 years old, born in Cordoba on November 29th, 1994. A quite logical outcome for this child of Karate.
Initiated by her father at the age of 3, she fell in love with karate « since I learned to close my fist », smiles the jovial Argentinian. Hers father is still her Sensei, « the one who guides me on my way », but since the age of 12, she also trains in Buenos Aires with the national team. Her drive and motivation ? « Believe in my convictions and have faith that everything can be achieved. My ambition is to make my dreams come true. My dream, since I was little, was to become World champion. It’s to win the Olympics ».
2nd of the Junior PanAms in 2012, Silver medalist of the U21 Pan American championships in 2015, Giuliana Novak won the Continental gold at 21 years old only. But, for the Argentinean fighter, student in physical education and Yoga doer, sports record is just one aspect of the practice. More than a sport, she lives Karate as a martial art.
« Karate has always been present in my life since I was born. It’s my life ! It’s my way of seeing things, interpreting them and solving them. It allowed me to complete myself as a person. It is a martial discipline that teaches us that we must always surpass ourselves, that our greatest opponent is ourself. Facing other competitors tests us but the biggest challenge is to overcome obstacles and be the best people possible ». Words of Sensei Giuliana Novak.
