She almost got it... She led in the final against the reigning world champion, Japan’s Arai, thanks to a Waza scored in the first ten seconds of the fight. But France’s Marie-Eve Gahie (-70 kg) was trapped by Chizuru Arai on the ground (Osaekomi). However, she had shone all day long, beating the Olympic bronze medalist, Britain’s Conway in the quarter finals, and Morocco’s Asmaa Niang in the semi finals (Ippon). Very disappointed by her defeat, the Parisian girl struggled to find her words. But at 21, already 3rd of the European championships in 2017, Marie-Eve Gahie can look confidently at the future.
