With Rafael Aghayev, his teammate of the Adidas Team, he is the star of these European championships. Turkey’s Burak Uygur has achieved a great and rare performance of announcing that he wanted to win two titles and, above all, he did it ! At 23 years old, he is becoming one of the heavyweights of the world circuit.

« Do I realize that I am the « man » of these championships with my two gold medals ? I thought about it after winning my individual medal. We talked about it with my teammates. They told me they will do everything to make it happen. Everybody has written this story, not only me. I am so thankful to them. Of course, I am happy. All athletes would like that to happen.

On Saturday, for my -67 kg final, I was opposed to Serbia’s Joksic in… Serbia. I prepared this final mentally and tactically with my coach. And we did it ! It’s great ! This final wasn’t the toughest one that I have played. It was more difficult in 2015 when I lost at home. Winning in individuals is, of course, important for me, but winning with the Turkish team is also important. My teammates are like my brothers. We can do everything for each other. It was difficult for me in the team finals on Sunday because my body was really tired. I fought on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday ».
