The adidas KP&P system beat the post Olympic house. WTF chose it as the official supplyer for its electronical equipements for the international competitions that it organises.

The Youth World Championships last November, the 2016 Grand-Prix final (December 9th-10th), the team World Championships (December 12th-13th) and the World Championships hold in Muju, in Korea, from June 24th to 30th 2017, see these body protectors in action. A new small revolution is on its way. Let’s know why…

Marko Gluhar

Engineer (computering and electro-technical)

Adidas KP&P Europe supervisor and team manager

-KP&P. « The team consists in 25 people in Europe. KP&P is a Korean company which works in synergy with adidas. We manage all aspects of a tournament organization, from the moment an organizer had chosen us. We provide head protections, body protectors ans joysticks for referees. For one tournament, it represents 250 000 Euros of materials. In Korea, KP&P equips all the tournaments for more than 4 years ».

Its precision. « Tests showed that the adidas KP&P – PSS system is a lot more precise than its competitor ones. 80% of the strikes are recorded. It was only 20% for some other system. There is no more tricky points anymore. Only real kicks can be scored. Concerning the head protection, the PSS system detectors are very sensitive, so all kicks are recorded, even in the front of the face, which is not the case for others. And, moreover, our protections are configured with electronic chips and not with magnets like other system, which increases its precision ».

Its reliability. « This system is very reliable. It never breaks down. Moreover, you don’t need to change batteries. And it’s really easy to work with. Its reliability and the electronic head protector allow to save a lot of time. Fights go quicker because you don’t lose time. You can schedule 5 fights per hour, against 4 for our competitors.

The Wi-Fi communication between equipments and computers is an industry standard one, contrary to our competitors’ one, which corresponds to a normal standard. Thus, it is so much more resistant to interferences because it is very strong and protected.

The future. « The technology we have developed through the PSS system is unlimited. It’s a progressive one and it will be even more precise in the future. Adidas just begins, contrary to our competitors who are now limited because of the technology they had chose. Our mission is to contribute to change Taekwondo. With our system, kicks must be very fast, precise and strong to be recorded. There is no more « Monkey kicks ». It’s not possible with this PSS system. »

Abdullah Atilla Unlunbay

Technical supervisor for the German federation

« KP&P is very easy to handle. I can explain to all operators how it works in only 5 minutes. If they have a little problem, it’s fixed very easily and quickly. This system is very stable. We work without any interference problems. During the Hamburg Open (last April), we had no fight stop because of problems during the 2 days of competition. We started on time and we finished even earlier than we had scheduled it, on Saturday as well as on Sunday. We also used this system for the German national championships. We had not one problem ».

Sven Hautmann

Head manager of the Hamburg Open

« WE used the adidas protectors for the 1st time in 2006. It was their 1st model. We came back to the adidas system in 2014 thanks to this new PSS model which we had tested in small competitions.

Honestly, it’s a very good one. Points are coming clearly, all techniques get in. With this new system, adidas breaks new ground with its head protector. For me, the PSS system represents the future. We already see more head kicks. Before, techniques were not really clean. There were too many punches, too many strange kicks. Now, it’s a lot better even if it changes a little the Taekwondo style ».
